Star Trek actors
I'm not a big Star Trek fan but I did see the Star Trek reboot which I enjoyed very much. Anyway, I came upon this photo at Gothamist of the original Star Trek actors visiting the Enterprise Space Shuttle. Only Capt Kirk (William Shatner) is missing. Prior to this, I had never see a photo of the actors outside of the TV studio. This photo is absolutely fantastic: the wonderful and strange clothing of the time, Spock has a beaming smile, "Bones" McCoy and DeForest Kelly are one and the same, Gene Rodenberry seems to be in a Star Trek uniform and pose, Chekhov's "this space vehicle is primitive".

Wow! What a gorgeous photo. I am a huge Trekkie. In "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" Chekhov is sent onto a nuclear powered sea vessel to extract high energy photons or something to energize the badly depleted dilithium crystals and he calls Capt. Kirk and says, "Captain, it's the Enterprise!" - the ship was the USS Enterprise which is still in operation today! I'm sad, more than I thought I'd be, at the end of the Space Shuttle program. I recall watching the launches on TV as a child and on the day of the Challenger tragedy we'd all been allowed the day off from school to watch it. Now we have to pay the Russians to take us into space! That just isn't right :( The 70s clothing is hilarious, yet also somehow kinda cool.
